Root canal system morphology is complex with numerous intricacies, lateral canals, isthmuses and dentinal tubules in which bacteria hide.  Smear layer, created during instrumentation, only increases the challenge of eliminating bacteria by inhibiting or delaying the penetration of antibacterial irrigants into the dentinal tubules.  Additionally, even with today’s advanced rotary techniques, cleaning with instruments alone is incomplete.

Root canal systems require significantly better irrigation with activated irrigants.
